A company called MAGIX maintains a huge database of all music CDs at free db.org which holds information about the CDs such as title, track times, etc.
Has anyone written any VBA code which can search this database and download data about a CD. It would be quite useful to be able to insert a CD into a drive, click a button and then automatically transfer any useful information about the CD from the on-line database into ones own database. Have you looked at the Miscellaneous section under Download (http://www.freedb.org/en/download__miscellaneous.11.html)?

Hi Doug,
No, I had missed that page but have looked at it now. There is an awful lot of useful data in the downloads but the only code examples I can find are in C# which is way beyond me! I will have to study the docs to see if I can work out how it all works but if anyone wants to write a VBA version (hint, hint) then that would be useful for me and everyone else, probably. Cheers, Peter Hibbs. |
