I'm using Access 2010, and I have a subform in datasheet view that is based on a query. The last control is based on an Attachment field. I can edit all of the other columns in the record, but I can't add/edit/open/etc. an attachment to the Attachment column. I can add/edit/open/etc. the attachment for the record in the actual query (and table) itself that the subform is based on.
These are some of the properties on the Attachment control: Control Source: attDirApproval Text Format: Plain Text Enabled: Yes Locked: No Format: [blank] Properties of the subform: Recordset Type: Dynaset Data Entry: No Allow Additions: Yes (although I think I want to change this to No, as I don't want new records to be added...only edit and delete existing records) Allow Deletions: Yes Allow Edits: Yes Allow Filters: Yes Record Locks: No Locks I've never used the attachment field before doing this database, but I assume you should be able to do this from a form/subform? Anyone know what's wrong here? |

Also, I can change the "0" to a "1" (or other #) and it gives the error "Cannot perform this operation." Not sure if that's helpful. I wonder if it knows that it's an attachment field? And if that's the case, how do I fix it?

Hi,
What happens if you double-click on the control? Or, try right-clicking on it. Just my 2 cents... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/2cents.gif) |

Double clicking does nothing, just highlights the "0". Right clicking gives me the following options: Paste, Form Properties, Properties (and other basic options that are grayed out...cut, copy, sorting..etc.)

Thanks. That explains a lot. How did you create the form? If manually, there is a specific control that you use for Attachment fields. Perhaps you need to replace what you have now with the right one.
