 Blank page at end of report on new computer

I have a db with about 100 reports and I am moving the db to run on a new (faster) machine. On the old machine, the reports do not generate blank pages at the end of the reports but on the new machine, they do. I don't want to have to go into each report and adjust the margins so I am thinking there must be some global setting in Access that is set differently on the new machine. I have looked all over the place and cannot find anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Both machines have Access 2003 SP 2.

Because it seems to be machine specific, I'd check these things: Are Office updates current? There have been tons of updates since SP2 Is the printer driver on that machine the most current? |

Sounds like you probably have a new printer also.
In the control panel, I would try setting the printer's default margins to your desired margins. |

I thought about that but both computers use Win2PDF as their printer. That way all the reports will print to pdf format and I can't find any setting in there for margins. I found a setting under Tools/Options/General in Access but both old and new computers have it set at 1" all around. I'm totally stumped here. Thanks for the advice though!

Hmmm...
I've seen blank pages print when the size of the report page exceeds the margins, but not just because the database file was moved to another machine. The defaults shouldn't affect reports already created. What about the font? Does the second machine have the reports' font installed? If not, Access would substitute it with Access's default font as far as I know. |

Yes, it is saying that the report is beyond the margins but only when I open it on the new computer. The reports are all in Arial so yes, that font is on both machines. Thank you for the suggestion. This is really puzzling me.

Sorry, Kathleen, but I've run out of ideas. I'm betting the "problem" machine needs to have the printer driver re-installed. I remember back when I still had hair I had a machine that printed blank pages and everyone else was OK. It turned out the printer driver was corrupt.

Would it be the printer driver though if I see the blank pages even just on the print preview within Access? Even if another printer is the default printer, it still does the blank page. I will try reinstalling the print driver. Thanks again for all your suggestions.

It could be the driver if you see blank pages in preview, but it sounds like that might not be the case if it happens with another default printer. Good luck, and please let us know if you find a dolution. It might help others. |
