Hi.

Hopefully my question is unique. I have been successful at creating a database for collecting data via email. It works just great. Now I would like to give this app to a user running Access 2010 runtime. The problem is they cannot seem to run all the necessary things such as Create Email. I created a switchboard form which runs fine from full blown Access 2010, but from Access runtime, it falls flat.

Any ideas for me?

TIA,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Can you tell us any error messages that your users are getting? Developing an application for a runtime environment requires that your app is practically error free or has a solid error handler.

Just my 2 cents... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/2cents.gif)

Thanks for your reply. No error is displayed for the end user. It looks like something flashes on the screen, but no error. I hate to admit it, but I used a macro to create the task. In the macro I open the table I which I want to get data for and then fire off the create email wizard. As I said, it works just fine from full blown Access.

Can you try adding an error handler in your macro to display a message when an error happens? Maybe there's an error but the Runtime is not displaying any message?

Well, the problem appears to be that Outlook on the client PC does not have access to the addin accolk.dll which is used to export the data from the email form into the Access database. I've been fruitless is googling how to install this dll on a client PC and allow Outlook to load it.

Hi Bob,

Have you seen Microsoft's suggested solution here?

If you need to download the file, check here.

Thanks for looking theDBguy, but I also found that and tried what was suggested. No such luck. Besides, it is not only one registry entry that this addin has, there are two or three InProcServer entries that are part of it. I'm thinking that Microsoft did not consider the runtime users for this functionality. What do you think?

Hi Bob,

Sorry to hear that. Not sure what to think since I have not used either of them (the collect data function and the runtime).

If I run into anything useful, I'll let you know.

Good luck!

Much appreciate your efforts. I'll post back if I have any success in solving this. The data collection functionality is quite useful, but sadly it appears one cannot create a useful app for end users running Access 2010 runtime.
