Hi,

I am working on a excel file which as many spread sheets. This file is crated by different emplyee and he is no more in the office. I have a problem with this file

There is a column called "Status" which we can enter only data from drop down. This list is in different sheet of same file. Now the users want to have another status to be included in the drop down. when i go for "validation" option in "Data" menu, it is disabled.

Can any one please let me know why is validation disabled.

Thanks for the reply, even all the options in "protection" are disabled except "Protect shared workbook"
