Hi all,
I am asking if somebody has a sample database for Vehicle Management. We are trying to create something so that we can see up and coming expenses to our 5 vehicles. So we need to be warned say if the VEHICLE TAX, MOT, SERVICE, REPAIRS DUE OR DONE ETC.. If not can somebody explain the best way to approach this. I have looked at Microsoft Vehicle template but do not want to use this. Many thanks Simon |

Hi Simon,
I have developed vehicle management type databases in the past for such areas as car dealerships and repair shops, I'm not sure if this is your case. As far as the exact approach, it depends. There are some constants such as having tables for manufacturer (e.g. Chevrolet, Ford), make (e.g. Camaro, Taurus), vehicles received (date received, associated coste, etc.). From there, it can go in many directions such as whether or not you're also tracking sales, customer bases, option groups, sales personnel, mechanics, repair costs, hourly rate for each mechanic, customer scheduling etc. Exactly what is it that you're trying to manage with this? Could you provide some more details? |
