Hi there,

I have a database, 4 tables, 10 queries, 10 forms, 4 reports. Some of the queries/forms are imported from another database. In doing so, the database became pretty big, with not really a lot of data in the tables (not exceeding 500 records a table on average).

Consequently, the database became very slow. How can I make it smaller in size and speed up the performance of the database? It just seems that 80 mb is pretty much for those above mentioned specs.

Will the database be quicker if it is split up with a back end (server) and a front end??

Hope someone can help me here,

Thanks

If you have multiple users the db should be split.

In addition, run Compact & Repair to reduce bloat

Hi Andy,

So I did that, worked nicely, but it's still 60 mb. Whilst the other original database is only 30 mb. Can you give me a ballpark figure what the average size could be of a database with the specifications mentioned above?

Thanks a lot

It does seem large.

My db has ~10,000 records lots of queries/forms/reports & is ~8MB.

Of course not every record is equal. Your records may be huge compared to mine. For example storing images ina db can really add to the size.

Is the database multi user? if so then it NEEDS to be split into a FE/BE setup.
