Over the years, I have marveled at your genius and wit. Thank you, Doug, you have taught me many things -- from your collection of amazing Smart Access articles to little tips like how to ignore Microsoft system tables and selecting external tables in SQL to in-depth topics like FTP, and MP3 metadata, which I spent a week writing code to loop, grab, and store, after learning how to do it from you. Your posts are always accurate and informative ... Doug, you are one of the most brilliant people I know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif) Thank you for coming to UtterAccess! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) (IMG:http://accessmvp.com/strive4peace/pubdocs/beersamples2485cl.jpg) recognize these? |

How did this get to 15 replies before I noticed it? Man I've been slacking here lately! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)
Doug, you've been a massive staple in my Access learning since before I knew how to change a color of a control text or validate using BeforeUpdate. Back before I knew what "Me" meant. Your posts here and elsewhere are always dead on the mark... I can only marvel at the expanse of knowledge and the ability to be right, every single time. Such abilities are unmatched even by other MVPs. To call your relentless dedication to the communities "impressive" is a thin and weak, but I can't think of any way to describe it with due impression, so that's where I'll leave it. You have been such a solid pillar of the communities for so long that you ought to be a household name! Root beer float without root beer? No way! Access without Doug Steele? NO WAY! Thanks, all. While I may not drop into our private forum that often, I do consider you all family! (note to self: order a larger table for holiday meals...)
@Crystal: Unless that's from the dinner at Gordon Biersch, no, I don't recognize them. However, I'll try them! @Alan (and whoever else is eavesdropping): Hopefully the beer knowledge is about to increase. I'm formally retiring at the end of the month, and I have an opportunity to complete an Engineering Ph.D. in Beer Brewing. I need to take a couple of prerequisite course before I decide: hopefully I'll be in a position to decide by Christmas. |

An Access wizard, retirement and now a Ph.D. in beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've just ticked off three items on my list of 'Things I must do before I die' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I guess the best I could hope for is if you need anyone to work in quality control as a sampler when you start your own brewery, then I'll send you my CV (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif) |
