Excel 2000

Recently I lost access to my excel files... one day everything was fine, then the next I started getting the following error every time I try to open an excel document:

"Error 1926: Could not set security for file "c\config.msi" error 5..."

I did a search for this on the microsoft site, and only saw this error addressed as a visual basic problem.

Help... anyone?

Try doing a repair on your Excel installation.

Put in your Excel 2000 (or Office 2000) cd and choose the repair option.

If this fails uninstall and reinstall excel/office

This should not affect any of your current excel files, but might be an idea to back up your work before you do it.

Also, here's some general trouble shooting advice:

Simply reinstalling might not help...
