He was a longtime member of UtterAccess, MrExcel forums, Microsoft MVP for Excel, and a good friend to many. Attached are two zip files (~1.5mb each) with several pictures of Nate and other UA members. Here are more pictures on my skydrive https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=caa21633db54...B54BE8C!353 Nate was always here on UtterAccess to answer Excel and automation questions. Nate taught me CopyFromRecordset and so much more. Many of the code snippets I have came from him. We would connect sometimes and share information -- always laughed a lot. I knew Nate for several years, we were good friends. I looked forward to seeing Nate each year at the Microsoft MVP Summits, watching him wipe all the balls off a pool table, and having good times. I loved Nate like a brother. Goodbye, my friend and colleague, you will be missed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

There are people who I respect and admire.
Then you get to meet those rare and talented individuals who are a privilege to meet and even stand in the same room with - Nate was one of those rare stars of a caliber and quality that was simply a privilege to meet. We have lost a leading top notch individual of a quality that our society rarely produces. Words cannot describe the caliber of Nate of which our technical community just lost. I cannot begin to make up his void he leaves anywhere he gone or been. I will very much miss you Nate. My condolences to all his friends and family - we are all deeply saddened if not outright shaken by this news. Oh Jesus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)
My work has prevented me from online activities in the last months... I would have never believed that I log in to my beloved utteraccess to post a message like this... Rest in piece, Nate, my tutor and friend. I learned so much from you. I am happy that I had the chance to know you personally. Cheers mate Martin |

Truly shocked, to log on to UA and read this news.
If you can, Crystal, please pass on my condolences to his family. Our paths did not cross much here on UA but Nate was always truly helpful and really did 'know his stuff'. Can you give any more information?, I was not aware that Nate was ill though I had noticed he had not posted for some while, but that could have been for many reasons. Still reeling. |

May he rest in piece. Glenn |

This is sad news indeed. I only knew Nate through these boards and I always enjoyed reading his answers and joining him in threads. It seems from the photos you have all posted that he was in real life how I always imagined him because of his avatar - always smiling that BIG smile. It was infectious and to catch him here on UA would always give you a lift.
RIP Nate. d |

A sad day indeed. Nathan was a master of Excel and Automation, and I learnt so, so much from him - even though I considered myself an "advanced" Excel user, Nate helped me so much over the course of the last few years - a veritiable mountain of knowledge and a nice guy to boot. I wish I could have met him personally and had a couple of beers and shoot some pool. The world has lost a true gentleman today.
RIP NateO. And thank you. |

Desperately sad news. I'm absolutely shocked to hear it.
You always think there will be time. I was sure there would be the chance on some future MVP summit to smack a few balls about with Nate (which didn't happen last time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif) ... because we always think there will be other opportunities...) Nate was a fantastic guy and gifted professional. A pleasure to have met him and my condolences to all his family and close ones. Leigh |

Wow, what a stunner. So sad and such a loss in so many ways. Nate was one of those kinda guys ya quietly cheered on in the back of your mind when he wasn't in your face going for the fun. My sincerest condolences to everyone who knew him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)

This seems surreal ... To know a man such a Nate has been a priveledge and honor. He was genuine, kind, caring and possesed many admirable qualities -- the kind of man you bond with as a friend the instant you meet him.
Any who met him, regardless of the venue, are now feeling a profound loss of a good friend. |

Nate was a rare individual indeed. His skill with Excel and VBA is legendary, but beyond that he was a genuinely good man. The Excel community has lost a pillar. The rest of us have lost a good friend.
