I've got a form in continuous forms mode. The form goes quite far across the page with core data at the left of the page which I always want to be in view of the user. Is there any way in MS Access of freezing the core data view while the user moves across the page to the right (like in MS Excel with freeze panes).

Thanks in advance,
Recall.

Hi,
change to DataSheet view...you can freeze columns under the Format...menu item.

The employee number/name are on the left, then all the info they need to key goes over to the right.

I'd rather use continuous forms because I find I have more control over the text boxes etc. Is there any way of freezing with continuous forms?

recall,

I should have read your post closer, how is the structure set up on your Form? Do you have a Main/Subform subform being the one you are having the problem with? What does the Structure look like? If Real Estate is a problem maybe look at Tab Pages. Without seeing your structure OR a copy of your DB really hard to advise you.

Hi,
there is no real way to do this in continuous form view...as mentioned earlier you would need to use a datasheet to achieve that. The only way coming to mind right now as a workaround with the continuous form setup would be to have two continuous form subforms on a main form...they are both based on the same source...the first one shows the columns you would want to freeze...the other one shows the rest which lets you scroll horizontally. With some fiddling you might be able to make it look like one form.

The attachment might work as a starting point.

Hope that helps.

Chris,

I know this post is a few months old but I have a question.

I have taken your sample DB and implemented it into my current application.

When I press the scrollbar down and it gets to the point where it has to scroll the records, the right subform will scroll first but the left will not. When I scroll to next one, both subforms will scroll 1 record...but they are not in-sync (off by 1 record).

Any ideas?

I have attached the example.

For those who downloaded the attachment, can you see any differences between Chris's and my example?

Well, I think I got it.

I took the example, changed the table sources and copy/pasted my textboxes from my example into the form and subforms.

Now, the weird thing is if I have the border style of the left subform set to solid, the 2 subform will not stay insynce. If it set it to transparent, works...man I hate things like that.

Every little thing I do to the form, I test to ensure that they stay insync, otherwise if I don't, I won't know what I did to make it not work.

You can also try enabling the txtRowHeader textbox on the left subform.

Please do not ask me why that should have that effect but it seems to work correctly if enabled…you can leave it locked if you like.

Chris.

Why? j/k (IMG:http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

After taking your example's forms and modifying it to include my data and boxes, the left subform I have to have the border set to transparent otherwise it will be off sync.

My current version has txtHeaderRow enabled and locked and it works. I just have to put a box around the subform so it will have borders.

How did you come up with this example? How ever you came up with it, I'm glad you posted it. This is an extremly big time saver with the current application I'm working on.

Again, thanks.

Hi,
I am new to this forum and I found your "Freeze Panes on Continues forms" on the website. I have changed the table and copy/paste to the sample form provided, however now I can't get it to sync-up and scroll. I have included the attachment and am hoping somone can help me rewrite the vba coding to get this to work.
