I've been building my first access data base using access 2007. I'm still in the proccess of building the database but what I'm trying to wrap my head around is the front end gui for my users of this database. My boss asked me to create a database that he can import inventory reports in the form of exel spread sheets. He wants to be able to get his excel spread sheet reports, take them and import them into this database. Then he wants to be able to query this database for certain criteria.
Now I've been working on a main form to act as the interface for him to do all this through. I guess where i"m confused is how do I make it so this form is really all he get's when he opens this database so he isn't overwhelmed by seeing all the tables and queries I've created. I just want it to function more like a stand alone front end application to the backend database. I've played around with splitting the database but seems like the front end is still the original database that links to the back end database. Would I just somehow make my form the default that loads when accessing the actual db? thanks for any information on clearing this up for me in advance! P.S. eventually I'd like to actually write a .net application that connected to a database but I need to get this completed a lot faster then I would be able to accomplish that. |
