Ok ... like this was not even a surprize!

Quite deserved and a great choice for Microsoft to appoint such a title to a great force in the Access community, escpecially here on UA!

I don't think anyone can be more surpsrised that I was when this email came in - everyone is saying "well deserved" but I'm not so sure myself. As the elite group of MS professionals, I've looked up to these people, most often in wonder and amazement, beholding them as a collective deity when it comes to Acess knowledge.

I'll never be wholly convinced that I belong to this amazing group of people. I'll never be wholly convinced that my answers to questions are as high in quality as other members of this group of people that we all look up to, and it'll be a long time before I'm convinced that someone at MS didn't screw up and sent me this award on accident. I've grown somewhat accustomed to keeping a wary eye on my email for a regretful inform that there was a glitch in the system and it pulled out the wrong email address.

I can't offer enough thanks to those who have directly helped me throughout my years with Access - all the way back to when I was asking questions like what's the difference between and function an a sub, and what's the "Me" word mean?" To them, I owe 33% of this award: If I have seen far, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants. - (Issac Newton) I won't even attempt a complete list of names, but notable mentions from my very green days would be Doug Steele, Marshall Barton, Allen Browne, John Vinson, Jeff Boyce, John Spencer, Dirk Goldgar... and others, I know I'm forgetting.

Another 33% rightfully belongs to those that come to comminuties asking for help. There is no other way that I could stay proficient in Access than by helping out those who need it. Indeed, a larger majority of the projects that I've found myself digging into were not because it was something I needed, but because someone said "can this be done?" and I thought it'd be fun to find out. Indeed, even the simple questions such as changing a form property keep my memory sharp on available options. No man is so foolish but he may sometimes give another good counsel, and no man so wise that he may not easily err if he takes no other counsel than his own. He that is taught only by himself has a fool for a master. - (Hunter S. Thompson)

The final 33% easily belongs to UtterAccess, the only online community where I kick my feet up and relax with friends while discussing things that we all enjoy. Gord, Glenn, Glen, Mark - all you guys that make this place turn, day after day, year after year - I salute you. Nowhere else would I have commited the time and energy than to this well managed and very friendly niche that lead to my award.

And as for the remaining 1%? That, my friends, I will frame on my wall, and let serve as a reminded that I have some very, very big shoes to fill.

Thank you all.

Rock on, Jack.

You're one of a handful of people I watch in wonder and can't imagine how you find the time to do all
the things you do here at UA. Knowledge comes from effort and you are a shining example of that.
