Let me start by saying i am completely new to this and probably have no idea what i am talking about. I had a bit of a search around the forum but couldnt find anything that could help me.

I run a retail store using MYOB retail manager and want to create an access query that i can put into an excel spreadsheet. With the help of access, we created an excel spreadsheet that calculates exactly what we have in stock for any given title based on the item code. What i cannot do is to add another access query that will also tell me the age of the stock (when it was received) for the items on the spreadsheet. Is this possible, and if so, can anyone help explain to me how to do it??

thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to UtterAccess!

Do you have a date field in Access or Excel that has the date of when the stock was received? In Access you can have a field in a query with datediff (check helpfiles, can have days, months, years etc). There is an equivalaent in Excel, just cant recall what it is off top of my head though.

Thanks for the welcome and reply.

I really am as newbie as they come with access so please excuse my lack of understanding.
There are only tables and no other objects within the access database. There is a table called 'goods' which has some information relating to goods being received including the goods_date. This table does not contain any item codes though.

There is another table called "GoodsLine" which has an itemised lsiting of each goods received by stock code.

All of the information i need to query are in these 2 tables but i dont know how to create the correct query or to put it in my spreadsheet. I want to be able to enter the stock code into column 1 of my spreadsheet and have it calculate my stock on hand and stock age from the database.

Would it help if i listed the columns within each of the tables or provided a sample of the spreadsheet??

cheers
Dean

yeah, try posting the columns in the database tables, and maybe even a sample if you can.
