Hi, fairly new to this,
Think I may have screwed up, I have created a database and I wanted to make it a restricted demo, (eventually for distribution) To do this I added a dcount to the on current for the input form and limited it to 7 records. unforturnately, I added the docmd "closedatabase" following the message box. As the database is set to open with the form, all I get now when I try to open the databse (having put 7 test records in), is the message box saying the max number of entries have been made, then the database closes... Its set to open with the form, am I stuffed, or is there a way of opening the db in edit so I can remove the close database command?? |

Hi
Welcome to UtterAccess (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome2UA.gif) Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard as you open the db which should bypass your start up form and let you make your changes |

Thanks.... that worked fine you're a genious...
would I be correct in assuming that function wouldnt work in a distributed db packaged with runtime? This post has been edited by g0var: May 6 2012, 08:40 AM |

Hi
Glad you got into it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) For a distributed db, you'd normally disable the shift key bypass option and use an mde/accde version of your front end. Which version of Access are you using ? |

Hi, using 2007, I have packaged a test db with package solution and runtime, seems to work ok,
what I want to be able to do is create a demo version (poss restricted to x number of records) and then allow the full version on payment. can do a lot with creating the db, but this is the first time ive looked at packaging and runtime |

Hi g0var
In this earlier post the code creates properties in the database Back End that can checked by any linked FE to see if a license is valid / has expired. It should be possible to adapt it to your needs. (Note there are some changes to the attachment in the later posts) hth |
