I used sample code from "Alison Balter's Mastering Microsoft Office Access 2007 Development" to implement a custom menu in Access 2007. Simple enough, works as described. But now, when I go into MS Outlook, Mail, and double-click an email, I get error "An error occurred while calling the callback: "Ribbon_GetDCVisible". I tell ya, its always something...

So, googling the error, I find the solution is, go into Outlook Trustcenter, Addins, and disable "Microsoft Access Outlook Add-in for Data Collection and Publishing". And disabling it does stop the error from appearing.

My question - are there any problems with disabling the Outlook addin ? Is this something I would want to tell a client to do ? Call me worrisome...

Thank you.

If they are using the Outlook Data Collection and Publishing feature with other database this could be an issue.

A better solution may be to create your custom Ribbon so that it does not cause the need to disable the Data Collection and Publishing add-in.

Makes sense. Any suggestions as to how to do so ?

I assume you are using a Ribbon for your custom menu.

What options are you adding to your custom Ribbon?
