Depends a lot on the kind of barcode I would think.

At one place I worked at, we used Code 3 of 9 for some things that were readable with wedge-type scanners, and we just used a special Code 3 of 9 font.

We had to remember with that font to enclose the values in asterisks in order for it to scan.

Some of the more complex types of barcode, including the QR codes people scan with smartphones, might be more involved to create and I have no experience in doing that.

Mike

Hi

You don't need a programme to print barcodes, you just use the appropriate bar code font as Mike suggested. The font could for example be 3 of 9 (aka Code 39), or Code 128 or similar. A wedge type USB hand scanner works just fine for reading the codes (but of course you could also use a more sophisticated scanner), and you can use a report to print them.

There's some info on bar code fonts here that you might find useful.

bottom line: yes

useful if you need to automate the process--ex: you have a table of data, such as an inventory, and you need barcodes for each item.

I made a program to create barcode labels...if you still need this I can explain in detail

I use code 39 barcodes in Access 2010 all the time. As mentioned in the other posts you can use a simple code 39 font. Once installed on the pc you can see the barcode in Access.
