Hi all - long time no see! (IMG:http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
I've got a quickie for you - I'm creating a stock control and invoicing application. The client has multiple stock locations, the office and the warehouse. I need to be able to place stock in each location. Now I thought it would be simple, when you check a purchase order in, you select the location. But the client wants to be able to move any qty of stock from one location to another and to keep an exact count of total stock. How would you do this? Any opinions greatly accepted! TIA as always. Steve. |

Without knowing your database-structure it is very hard for us to help you ...
The DB-structure you have is this properly normalized? But the client wants to be able to move any qty of stock from one location to another and to keep an exact count of total stock. If you move items from location to location .. the total stock remains the same, isn't it? Do you mean stock of the location of the grand total? What is 'moving' for you ...? When the article/item is purchased, does the stock change? or is it after the delivery? Hi - database is completely normalised. I work out stock from the amount on orders and also use a stock take system to free up some system resources (only work out the stock level using the last stock take amount onwards)
Client would like to keep a total stock count of a product but also be able to move stock freely. Have a products table, receipts table (for purchase orders) and order/order details table... |

Can you please post the details(Fields, relations, ..) When the article/item is purchased, does the stock change? or is it after the delivery? Do you have to keep the moving of the items?
