I am having a problem getting a redirect to work. The original page is 'Record key' I have tried several permutations on a new page 'Record Key' but can't seem to get it working correctly.
Can somebody check it out and tell me if it works for them or perhaps set me straight on what is wrong with what I have please? I've tried clearing my cookies but that does not seem to help. Glenn |

Hi, I tested your redirect and it does seem to work correctly.
I entered in this URL: CODE utteraccess.com/wiki/index.php/Record_Key and was sent to the Record key page with the note, "Redirected from Record Key" so everything seems to be correct here... |

A thought belatedly occurred to me.
When you initially create the page with the redirect, it will prefix "&redirect=no" to the URL so you will be able to see the page itself. As long you see that the link is blue and there's a "return" arrow adjacent on the left side, then it's good. Strip the "&redirect=no" from the URL to actually verify that you get redirected. HTH. |

Isn't there some way to edit the title of an article instead of creating a redirect for the sole purpose of changing capitalization? The combo box thing seems to have really gotten out of hand. |

Thanks Banana. I first realized I should create the redirect for record key when I tried to follow the link from one of your posts and found myself on a new wike page. At the time the there was only the form of the title with a lower case 'k'. When I tried All Pages - 'Record Key' in the wiki, the link still led to the 'Record key' page. Case sensitivity didn't seem to be a problem inside the wiki but it was a problem in the external link. Things now seem to be functioning correctly. The link in your post gets re-directed to the full article. Thanks for your help. Glenn |

If you look at the Wikipedia, it does same thing, unforunately. CODE en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald duck en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald Duck URLs are case sensitive, though many providers do some magic to make their address appear to be case insensitive, but on wiki, there's no way to account for different possible combinations. It has already been asked on another thread that we be able to create a page listing only actual articles and excluding redirects. If you look at the "new pages", you won't see redirects list there, which verify that it is possible to filter pages... "All pages" of course doesn't filter out redirects, and I've yet to find a template listing only Articles without the redirects.. |

As far as I am concerned, Ace, wiki case sensitivity is a PITA. We have overcome the problem when it comes to usernames as far as I know but if you look at the note on re-directs on the wike start page, creating multiple re-directs seems to be what we have to live with for now. Glenn Wow. I just read the section. Hard to believe that it is a recommended practice. I won't use the phrase I have to describe it. |

I have to agree this is a big problem and I can't say I'm very happy with this, but I'd rather have the redirect than accidentally sending users to a dead end because a letter wasn't capitalized. On Wikipedia, it's somehow bearable because they only have to worry about "Donald Duck" and "Donald duck", but in our case it's worse because of camelcase convention such as AllowZeroLength, allowzerolength, Allowzerolength, and so forth.
