I am trying to set the tab order using the 'other' properties using the tab index field. When changing a tab index, the system decides to change it to another index number. So, for example, I change it to '10' and then all of a sudden, it auto changes it to 32 or whatever.
This forces me to use the 'build' button and drag and drop the fields where I want them which, due to a large number of fields on the form, is painfully slow.. Can anyone tell me why the system overides my tab index change? Is this normal? Can I do something to stop it? Thanks for any assistance.. |

What is tricky about doing it the way you are doing it is that if you change the tab index to value that has been assigned to another control, you can get behavior something like you describe.
It is much better to click View--->Tab Order, then drag the controls into the desired order |

Thanks, that's what I was doing, but it is much slower due to the amount of fields I have..

Yes, if you have a bunch of fields, it will be slow. But it is going to be slow anyway. However, one thing you can do is decide what index value a certain control should have, then CHANGE the one that currently has that Index number to 99. Then set the other control's value to the one you want it to be.
Might it be possible to rebuild the form? Put the fields into the Wizard field boxes in the desired order and the tab index properties will be set for you. Edited by: fkegley on Wed Feb 6 16:17:19 EST 2008. |
