I generate a lot of reports which are automatically exported to email. On many of the older ones I get a message box that states "This document was previously formatted for the printer PRINTERNAME;,but that printer isn't available. Do you want to use the default printer DEFAULTPRINTERNAME?
can either select OK at that point or I can select SETUP. If I select SETUP/PAGE I see that Default Printer is already selected. If I select ok at that point it's exactly as if I selected ok immediately.
Oreuse 27 reports monthly and about half of these refuse to learn to use the default printer. I have to tell them each time.

Open each offending report in design view ...
Choose "Page Setup" from the main menu ...
Click on the "Page" Tab ...
Choose .. "Default Printer" ...
Click "OK to close the dialogbox ...
(very important ) .... Choose "Save" in the main menu to retain these settings ...

We run into this same issue sporadically, but only some of our clients are reporting the issue, and it is never the same report. Is anyone aware of a driver/XP issue that may be playing into this problem?
Any suggestions for a more generic approach to print driver settings?
any help appreciated.

If your reports are not retaining the printer settings ...
More than likey they are using the original release on Office/Access 2000 ...
This was a bug in the original realease ...
The fix for this was in the SR1 service release update.
But there are many more serious problem in this version that are fixed with the latest update (SP3) ...
You must install SR1 before you can install SP3 .. and all of these updates can be found at Microsoft.
THere is a link to more info:
How to Obtain the Latest Office 2000 Service Pack
You also need to make sure the latest Jet 4 update has been installed on all machines ...
