Speaking from a purely design perspective ...

The width of the side bar is a bit wasteful of space as it is wider than necessary for the text it contains.

I would recommend reducing the width, or better yet configure the nav menu to be collapsible either by toggle button or hover. This will maximize available space for actual content.

The mono approach to the color scheme for the nav menu is wise and tastefully done.

What is the purpose of the header space? What will its function be? As we're dealing with a limited amount or visual real estate, you should always ask yourself, "Is this an effective use of this space? Is this the best use of this space?"

I like it, however I think a bit of a look at the top bar could really help. Its got a skewed aspect ratio (which I hate tongue.gif) aswell as looking a tad pixelated.

If you want the constellations could you perhaps find an image of them with a transparent background and anchor that in the far left. That way it won't get distorted as the form resizes.
