I have a 200 GB Lexar microSD card that suddenly becomes write protected. I cannot save and move the files. There is no any physical switch on the card and adapter. I tried to change the following key Value data of WriteProtect from 1 to 0

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

There was no any effect to the write protection. Is there any way to remove the write protection? Thanks!

Hi Ray,

Does your adapter plug into a USB port or an SD slot?

Hi Z,

Hmm, when I right-click on a drive letter and go to Properties, I don't see a "Read-only" checkbox. Are you, maybe, referring to a file's property? If so, I think the OP's problem affects the entire drive and not just specific files on it.

Cheers!

The card comes with an adapter plugged into a USB port. I also inserted the card into Sandisk adapter plugged into a SD card slot. The card was also inserted into a Surface tablet. The files on the card can be assessed from above methods but could not save new files or any revision on existing files. Obviously the adapter works file but problem lies on the card itself.

In Properties, there are 6 tabs: General, Tools, Hardware, Sharing, ReadyBoost and Customise. There is no Read-only option to select.
