Almost everyone have received a scam spam. while some are bluntly an obvious fraud, others are trickier and there are many victims of such scam spam fraud (here is one story made the news recently: Man stung in $1.5million email scam) .

ScamWarners.com is a new site intended to protect, inform and assist victims and potential victims of various internet frauds.

ScamWarners aims to:

[*] Identify individuals or groups who may be vulnerable to scams
[*] Provide accurate and reliable information to victims and potential victims
[*] Advise and support those who have been scammed
[*] Warn people about fraud on the internet
[*] Help people protect themselves against scammers

ScamWarners is providing help and information about the following types of scam:
[*] Advance fee fraud, also called 419 scams – scams promising a large sum of money (such as a bequest, charitable donation, investment, unclaimed bank account) or a valuable consignment (trunk boxes or consignments of cash, gold, or black money) [*] Charity scams [*] Check scams, particularly those used in auctions and online selling, or job offers and employment scams [*] Fake banks and fake escrow sites [*] Lottery scams [*] Love scams [*] Money recovery scams

The forum has lots of information on the most common types of scams, with examples of scams and advice on how to identify and avoid frauds (including examples of fake documents scammers use in the process). The site has a number of experienced scam advisors and scam warners who are ready and able to assist anyone who thinks they may have been contacted by an internet fraudster.

Scamwarners (and other anti-scammers sites) has become the target of the Storm botnet.
HAs of this writing the site is down. I'll post when it's up again.

While still under DDOS attack, ScamWarners.com is back up. At times of heavy attacks, the site will be shut down temporeraly.
