In Window 10 File Explorer, if the Preview Pane is turned on, attempting to delete a file raises an error indicating that the file can't be deleted because it is open in another application. I am not sure it this is a new behaviour but it's a pain.

I have experienced the same problem, but only with certain file types, notably PDF's, and only when Adobe Reader was my default PDF handler. As a workaround I installed an alternate PDF handler (I used FOXIT, but I am sure any program will do) and now I can delete from explorer to my heart's content.

Thanks for your response. Actually, you have described my current situation exactly. The file in question was a pdf and Acrobat Reader is my default handler. I will check out and alternative handler.
