Hi UA Experts,

I have this simple db that I am trying to finish up. Few of the Experts in here have assisted me on getting this moving along. I am now adding a search button and one textbox and a cbo. I like to have the user enter the record number in the unbound textbox and then make the selection from the drop down of which criteria to search, then click the button.

This is the last piece of this small project, hope UA can assist. Thank you all.

Hi Scooter: What record ID do you want to search for? The wpID or ...? And what is the row source for the Criteria combobox, and what matching field in the displayed record? And is this an AND or an OR search?

Are you searching for a specific person and, if so, why would you want to use the record number instead of the person's name?

RJD and ProjectToday,

Sorry that was a wrong requirement.

Here is what I was attempting to do, two buttons, one says new search, and the other search. The search button is disabled until the newsearch button is clicked. The new searchbutton will clear the form, and the search button will search (*) wildcards, as in wpID, staff, dateEvaluated, auditor, reviewer, and returned for 2nd review (frm4).

Thank you both!

It looks like you're trying to use controls on the form for searching. I think it's easier if you use separate controls to specify your search parameters. These controls go in the header section of the form or on another form.

RJD and ProjectToday,

So I put few unbound textboxes on the header section and I also have two buttons, one for search, and the other for clear those controls. My only two issues are: I am not sure how to filter the staff name since it is part of a cbo that has two columns. The staffID and the lName. My second issue is the option group, I like to be able to select 2nd Review and filter for that type of record.

I followed what ProjectToday recommended, and stuck with the staff textbox and the option group.

I changed the staff to a combo box and activated that for the refresh button. I also added navigation buttons to the form and colored the header section light blue.
