Word 2016:

Anyone have help on why my documents turn into read-only when I attempt to save them? Then I'm told to change the name and it will save.

I'm opening a Word document that was an attachment sent to me in e-mail, making a couple of changes, then trying to save as usual. BTY this happens on some documents I work with that weren't coming via attachment.

Does this apply to your setup and solve your issue by any chance?

I tried all the suggestions in the link you provided, but it still didn't solve the issue. I wish it had.

Raas,

> I'm opening a Word document that was an attachment sent to me in e-mail,

If you're double-clicking the attachment from within the E-Mail, I would recommend to NEVER do this. In my experience, it's much better to SAVE the attachment, edit the file that you saved, then if you need to send the changed file, send your altered file.

Hope this helps,

Dennis

An extra step for what the client wanted to happen, but, guess what, it works just fine that way. I've sent them instructions that this will have to be the way they get the form filled out and back to them.

Thanks to both of you..
