I have a report with several columns. On the left side of the report I have labels defining each row. The problem is: how do I eliminate the label duplicating itself across each column?

I sort of solved the problem by turning the label into a text box and setting the Hide Duplicates to Yes. However, it still has the blank space where the labels would fit. Is there any way to eliminate this white space?

use a main report/subreport

put the labels in the main report and your column data in the subreport
