Hi All

I've a workbook that is being opened via a hyperlink in IE. So that the workbook effectively opens up within IE. The problem i'm having is that the Workbook.open method is no longer working, returns a 1004 error, but works fine if you open it up in excel.

Any Thoughts?

cheers

Hi,
why do you need to use that in an IE environment. I think IE can only handle one excel document at a time and won't allow you to automate it in the fashion you might be used to from directly within Excel. So if you can avoid it that I would work with this within Excel at the client.

Good luck

Usual reason, no one told me it was going to be used in IE until we had the problem. Managed to bypass the problem by replacing the hyperlink with a label that opens an instance of excel and the spreadsheet in that.

Glad you found a workaround.
Good luck on future projects!
