Full Version: MDI Background color and Windows Vista

Several years ago I dowloaded the ChangeMDIBackGround sample from Lebans website. I've been using the code
for years. All it does is change the MDI background color. I can create images in Photoshop, superimpose them on
my forms, and the form will appear to hover seemlessly in the middle of the screen. The effect is demonstrated in
a Switchboard form I posted several years ago in the UI Design forum.

Recently, I opened one of my A2003 applications on a Vista machine. The code does not seem to work in Vista.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?

Hi,
I haven't tested it on Vista...but the code doesn't work in Acc2007 anymore either. For some reason the window handles and APIs for it get messed up in the new versions. Try to run the code and then switch to the VBA editor...do you see your image/color appear for a second as the VBA editor background before it loads the code module? That is what I've experienced. I had contact Steph about it but he has not yet had time to install 2007 and modify his solutions for it.

Good luck

I don't have regular access to an A2007 machine. I only came across this several days ago when one of my coworkers brought in his new wizbang laptop to show off. He develops in Access so I asked him if I could see how one of my latest applications looked on his screen. Imagine my chagrin. At least the API call isn't causing the app itself to bomb.

I'm glad to hear that Lebans is still in the game...It doesn't appear that he's updated his site for quite some time.
