Hiya
made a query to be the basis on the form.
The fields in the query, with relationships, are as follows
tblTaskList
StartDate
AnalystID > Related to AnalystID in tblAnalyst
TaskID > Related to TaskID in tblTasks
StatusID > Related to StatusID in tblStatus
DATETIMEFinished
Doneontime
tblAnalyst
AnalystID
First Name
Last Name
tblStatus
StatusID
Status
tblTasks
TaskID
Taskname
Description
Links
I'm trying to create the form so that the linked values are in a combo box, but i'm only getting the numbers, no matter what i've tried so far. I would like the values of other fields to be selected. For example, in the AnalystID i want to be able to choose their first name, in taskID i wanna be able to choose the task name and have the description update with the value from tblTasks and with the statusID i wanna be able to choose the value of Status. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Hi
On the design of your Form - delete the control for AnalystID
Use the wizard to create a ComboBox to lookup the values from your tbluAnalyst.
Where it asks you to choose the fields required - Choose just Firnatname & LastName
When it asks you to Store the value - select AnalystID from the List
Now when you switch to Form View you will be able to see both FirstName & LastNames
Do the same for the other controls as required
Hope this helps?

OH, 1 more thing.. for a beforeupdate event that i program in, say... Overdue is ID 5, would i do..
If statusID = 5 then update this field?
For if statusID = Overdue
I think it's the numbers, would like some confirmation, thanks sad.gif

Hi
That do you want to update?
StatusID is just a number that is stored that relates to the item selected from the ComboBox
So the ID nr 5 will relate to a specific Status ie Paid / Overdue / Not yet paid etc
If you select ID5 then you can do something to someting
Hope this helps?

It helps, thanks. I think i've cracked it now.
It's different then using text, which is what i started with before i normalised it.
