Full Version: Linked Table is causing Error 70 Access Denied

I have a database called MRT with a table called Employees and a table called tblLocalVariables.
I have another database called Renewals that is linking to the Employees table.

We use a database called AutoUpdater (some of you may be familiar with it) that determines which version the user has installed. If a new version is available it gets copied over to the users computer. To do that a table called tblLocalVariables is located in MRT and in AutoUpdater. It compares the version numbers in those tables and as I said copies over the database if there is a new version.

I want to setup the scenario and I'll try to be as clear as I can.

If a user has the Renewals database open and another user tries to open MRT using the AutoUpdater database they receive an Error 70 Access Denied message. Somehow when the Renewals database establishes a link to the Employee table in MRT it locks EVERYONE out of MRT via the AutoUpdater database. AutoUpdater cannot connect to the tblLocalVariables table in MRT.

I hope that was clear enough for someone to understand. This is a very high priority for me because it's preventing users from opening the MRT database.

Any help would be appreciated.

One last thing. Even though no one has the MRT database open, when a user opens the Renewal database and links to the Employee table in MRT, a LDB file is created for MRT.
