Greetings all; Thanx for taking my question.

I am in the process of migrating up from Windows XP / Office 2003 to Vista / Office 2007. Currently, in Access 2003, we utilize (heavily) the Linked Table (Sharepoint Lists) capability both the the main list (All Items) in Sharepoint and also to many underlying views to the All Items list. Unfortunately, I cannot find any manner to link Sharepoint Views to Access 2007.

In addition, the hyperlink (Edit) field created by Sharepoint on lists is no longer exposed upon a successful link (at least I cannot find a way to see it ?!?)

Two questions:

1.) Can someone please confirm (or indicate otherwise) that linking to a Sharepoint view from Access 2007 is no longer possible.
2.) How can I see the Edit field upon linking to Sharepoint ?

Thanx - I look forward to your response !

Hi,
Welcome to UA forums.
Linking to Sharepoint is actually very possible in Acc2007. The Access/Sharepoint integration has become even tighter in Acc2007 then it ever was in prior versions. This blog post steps you through the linking process step by step.

Thanx for you prompt reply !

I did see this earler but it did not explicitly differentiate between linking into Sharepoint Views vs. the Master Sharepoint List. I understand the mechanics of linking (it real intuitive in Access 2007) but it appears that some of the original capability provided in Access 2003 has been removed in Access 2007 (re: Linking to Sharepoint List Views).

Thanx again !

I always thought that Views are for web functionality only and how Sharepoint allows us to customize how the data is displayed at runtime on the web. You should be able to easily duplicate the views functionality within Access by linking to the List itself and then using Access internal features to work with the linked table, or?

Right; I don't have any problem replicating the functionality on my workstation, however, Access 2003 allowed us to select any underlying view to a Sharepoint List (i.e. the server would perform all the heavy lifting) thereby eliminating the need of dragging the entire list across the network to my client.

Access 2003's link dialog would enumerate all the underlying views for you for selection - interesting, however - the Sharepoint to Access 2007 Import function does allow for the importation of data views .. ?!? Seems a bit backwards to me ?!?

Thanx !

I'm not sure if there is a solution to that...maybe someone else has an idea.
