Full Version: "Left" function no longer working after upgrade
UtterAccess Forums > Microsoft® Access > Access Forms

One of our forms uses the following code. The point of this code is that our database is linking to image files, and it uses the first character in the file's name to determine which folder the image will be in. I don't think all that's really pertinent, though; I think the "left" function just isn't working.
div class='codetop'>CODE
Select Case Left(Me.image_filename, 1)
Case "a", "b", "c"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "A-C"
Case "d", "e"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "D-E"
Case "f", "g", "h"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "F-H"
Case "i", "j", "k"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "I-K"
Case "l", "m", "n", "o"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "L-O"
Case "p", "q", "r"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "P-R"
Case "s", "t"
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "S-T"
Case Else
stFileSpec = stFileSpec & "U-Z"
End Select

We just had our machines upgraded from Access 2007 to 2010, and now this form no longer works. When we open it, the debugger opens, the word "Left" is highlighted, and we get the message "Compile error: Can't find project or library".
The going suggestion is to just have 2007 reinstalled, but that doesn't seem like a great solution. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Chip

Have you checked references under vba\tools\references?
hances are you are missing one.
ChipC
That sounds reasonable. Any idea which reference it should be?
ChipC
Ahh, I get it now. I'd misunderstood. I did have a "MISSING" reference, so I unchecked it, saved, and now everything's okay. Thanks!
