Click to view attachmentSorry for the second post but I got nowhere on the first go-around. This time I have added some screen shots. And now the problem:

I have created a query that has all the information that I am using in my report. When I render query to pull up one record everything works fine depending on the record the report could have 1 to 3 pages and it prints out great including the page count eg. 1 of 3. "see attached file pr2-print-pre-view-like-it-should-be.png" The problem I'm having now is it when I run the query and brings back multiple records now the report will only produce the header on the first page and the page header on the pages that follows. "see attached file print-pre-view-of-report-that-is-wrong.png" That would be fine if I was only needing one record at a time in said query, however I now have 20 to 30 records being returned in the query and now the report is not doing what I would like it to do. It is producing the report for all the records as one report and only placing the report header on the first page and page header on all the following pages and the page count is like 1 of 42.
What I am trying to do is get the report to produce a report header for each record in the query and if there were to be a second page the the page header would go on the second or third page and the count would be 1 of 3. So I would end up with 20 separate 2 or 3 page reports and not 1 60 page report. This time I included the design view as well see pr2-design-view.png please ignore the green errors in the design view screen shot this PC that I used to create the shots in not linked to the tables.

Again any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you need to Group the Report based on a Field. Have you tried doing that?

Report.

You might want to use the Report Wizard, so that it will ask you which Fields you want to use from the Query or Table and then at the end the Wizard will ask you if you want to Group the Report, in which then you will choose a Field(s)

The "GroupBy" in the report definition also offers "SortBy".

Can you confirm that you used the GroupBy?

Here is an example.

How would that be different from right clicking at the bottom of the report when in design view and selecting group/sort? It's a bit of work to create this report all over again...

You could use the wizard as an example, then change your original to be similar to the wizard. Just an FYI, changing your original might not take two seconds.

Okay so this has helped but I am not quite there. I need to get the page count to work i have tried to move it all over the report and it's still the same count for the entire report not just the group. also I need the report header that is in the design view that I attached in the main post. and have it show up on my group header and then a second page for the group header that will only appear on the sequential pages that is on my attached post "page header"

Have you included a Page Footer, then in the Group Footer add a Page Breaker? Look at the the File I uploaded.

Yes I have now tried it any way that I can... Where do I place the continued section? I cant get the continued section that needs to appear on the sequential pages for the group to not show when a new group starts. Its either always on the top or not at all.

The page count is correct and the main PR2 header section works like it should now. Thanks so much for that its just this [censored] continued section, it needs to only show on page 2 of 3 and 3 of three but not 1 of 3.

In the Group Footer area you need to add a "Page Break." It is to the right of the Chart Icon. Look at the the Report I uploaded before and you will see some like the following:----- in the Group Footer and this is the Page Break icon.

yes I have done that in your own report and I just copied the page header and the continued to the group header and the page header and yet I don't get the results i'm trying for. please see your attached file with my added header info. I made a change in the report properties section with respect to the page header showing not showing on the page with the report header. that was the only way I could get the continued section to not print on the first page.

It looks good to Me. What's wrong?

I need it to look like the report see attached. the PR2 header needs to be the only header at the beginning of each group and not have the continued except on the sequential pages for each record group. just like the attached. these forms are turned into to state and the intent is to have one report per patient, they can range from 2 to 4 pages per patient. they way your method is working at least on my end is the very fist page is fine however the start of the second group page four in Access and at the bottom of the report it displays "page 1 of 2" that's all working great, but at the top of the page it's not omitting the continued part and displays both the PR2 and the continued part. It needs to display just like the very first page just the PR2 part.

Sorry Dog, but this is the best I can do.

I understand and so appreciate effort and help. My question is do you think that what I am asking is out of range for MS Access and should I bee looking into something more like Crystal Reports? Or should I keep stabbing away at this in Access?

It's almost like I wish there was some way to re-query the report with the next groupid that I am grouping by that produces the report as if the report would start all over for each record in the query.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

Attached is another suggestion. This is a Report based on a Query Parameter, in which you are asked to enter a Group ID when you run the Report. It works fine, but obviously you can only enter one Group ID at a time. I tried a Parameter In String (ParameterInStr), but that didn't work either. Check it out and let me know.
