I am just curious, I'd like to know if it is wise to create something like that in Access???

Seems like it would be a natural fit, but it might be simpler to buy Family Tree Maker....

Now, LarkLane posted a question relating to this type of thing a while ago...here's the Link

So he/she might have some thoughts...

I agree with Ben that you should consider looking at some of the apps already avaialble. Even if you are a wizard with Access, it will take you a lot of time to get it working. Even if you decide to build it yourself, I would look at the probrams available. Get a demo and run run it to get some ideas on how to build you own.

Unless you have something really unique you want to do, the programs available already do everything you need.

Thanks guys, I'll check the program out.

Yes I agree, I have helped several people set up their Family Trees on purpose built programs and they work fine.

I woudl be a lot of work to do it in Access, unless it was purely for your own enjoyment. There are quite a few shareware programs one can get for a very low price eg Brothers Keeper.

Thanks Digmen1, I'll give these programs a shot.

Microsoft has one you can download on their Web site:
