I am trying to compact and repair a database, but I get an error:

"You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively by user 'admin' on machine XXXXX. Try again when the database is available."

When I open the LDB file, it shows my computer name and 'admin', even if I close completely out of access. Why doesn't the LDB file refresh? Any help is appreciated.

Probably a temp-file of your database is still open.
Restart you computer and try to compact and repair your db.

Delete the ldb file. Then, move the db to a different drive. Then try again (but open excl).
