(Office 2000) Whilst 'writing' a 'spreadsheet' a clients Excel crashed and wil not run. A worksheet opens but then Excel crashes....WIn 98 crashes also. I tried an Office re-install which produced no change at all I reaaly don not want to do a format HD if I can avoid this, any suggestion welcomed!

the last time i came across this it was a problem with word and it turned out to be caused by a template placed in the incorrect location.

do a search for all files with the extension .xlt and when you get the results, make sure they're all stored in Application Data/Microsoft/Templates. if one is not in that location that could be causing the problem
