Full Version: Overwrite in date/time fields

I seem to have some date/time text-boxes that when edited the cursor behaves as if overwrite is on (old text is overwritten as new text is typed), and other text-boxes that behave as if overwrite is off (new text is inserted). What is the property that controls this? Is it somehow related to the input-mask?

Yes ... it is the input mask ... I find that "feature" of the input mask is quite bothersome ... so much so I don't use them any more.

Could you elaborate please. I can't figure out what in the input-mask makes it only sometimes behave this way.

This is what I find in the help file:
QUOTE
When you type data in a field for which you've defined an input mask, the data is always entered in Overtype mode. If you use the BACKSPACE key to delete a character, the character is replaced by a blank space.

But I have some input masks that behave this way, and some that don't.

Force the cursor to go where you want it with code ...

Dave,

Have you found the answer to your thread. I have the same problem with access 2000.
It was working fine before.
Since we upgraded to XP, I think it could be due to that, or maybe something in the computer settings.

Cursor behavior is:
If you type 12 the 2 will write over the 1, unless you manually use the right arrow key between each character entry.

Thanks
