I have no idea why I am having a hard time with this...but I need to calculate the percentage of waste i will have for material

Example:
10 units being created

5.5" of material needed per unit
10 ft of material purchase length

Yield calculated with .125 saw blade factored in

I need to see how much of a waste would be left per 10 ft length and again at the full unit purchase (ex. 100 units would purchase 47 10 ft poles) how much is left over? aka waste

Also note lengths vary, so It is not based on any set number...it would all be refered to a different section in the worksheet. Please help!!

I am struggling to understand but obviously my English is not enough.

So, you need 5.5" of material per unit and the material is bought in 10 ft poles (incidentally, how many inches into one ft?)

I don't understand the .125 factor...

Now, you want to calculate for e.g. 100 units -

(1) How many 10 ft poles do I have to buy?

(2) how much waste in inches or ft do I have?
