Full Version: Quit Access - but the screen remains

I have a access utility that runs as my computer starts up. It opens compacts a local database and once it does its thing it closes. For some reason however on closing the desktop does not refresh and I am left with the remnants of a blank access window in a similar way as if it had crashed.

Any ideas why this happens and how to stop this?

Thanks

Shane

access utility .. please explain: is it written by yourself ...

That utility opens - compacts and should close the application and quit access?

we had the same 'Ghosting' on machines running Win2000 and Access2002 or Access2003, and XP with Access2002. all machines that have been upgraded to XP and Access2003 do not ghost.

Much the same problem if you right click the taskbar of access and close...most the time it leaves that blank screen and nothing else...no clue why though :(

I'm using Access 2000 on Windows XP. One of my customers has the same problem with Access XP on Windows XP.

I've now modified my program so that it minimises the application as soon as it starts. This seems to work around the problem. I'm using the code at http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0019.htm

Seems a bit excessive but it solves an immediate problem.

Thank you all for your interest
