Full Version: Access Support Being Stopped
I have heard that Access will no longer be supported by Microsoft as of next year. This came through a professional programmer. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Has anyone heard anything about Microsoft dumping support for Access? I want to build an Access DB system for work, but I won't be doing it if Microsoft intends on getting rid of Access. If anyone has heard anything, I would appreciate knowing about it. Thank you.

MS is working one the next version of Access (V 12 ), if you scan through the posts here, you will find out more about it. Here is one...and here is another...both by Clint, the big honcho for MS Access... he may not be a professional programmer like your friend, but in regard to Access future, I think he knows a thing or two...

I haven't heard anything like this and, considering that Microsoft has announced a new release of Access next year with the next MS Office, I don't think there is any reason to believe they are dropping support.
Microsoft did announce plans to drop support of VB 6 which has created some consternation among MS customers. Maybe that is beng confused with Access somehow?

I am a Microsoft Access MVP and can assure you there is not, nor has there ever has been any plan to drop Access.
Access 12 is being developed by the Access Team as we speak and will be more robust and full of new and exciting features.
Clint Covington is a member here at Utter Access and is the Lead Program Manager for Access at Microsoft and is "directly involved" with the the next version release of Access.
This version is slated to be released sometimes in 2006 ...
I will post more details on this new version as some as the information becomes publicly available ....
So don't give that hoax another thought .. I can assure you Access will be around for a long while ..

It sounds more like unprofessional programmer giving false info. for his/her advantages.

Since Microsoft is well underway with development of of Access 12 and (IIRC) has started Access 13 and the extended support is 10 years for each product, "next year" for general Access software is completely false info.
