I have a report where my boss doesn't want any groupings - just wants all contracts listed. Buy the contracts are associated with three different departments: Sales / Marketing / Services

Can I put text boxes in the report header that shows

Total Sales Contracts: 31 | Total Marketing Contracts: 72 | Total Services Contracts: 31

and then in the detail portion of the report simply show all contracts with no grouping ?

Just wondering

I would probably do this with a subreport. Develop three queries that produce the desired totals. Then another query whose tables are the three totals queries. Then use that query as the record source for the subreport. The main report could be developed in the normal way.

Frank,
Thanks - that's too cumbersome, and my boss has since changed her mind, but thank you for confirming that this takes some work ! Good solution, though - thanks !

Steve, you're welcome. If you wait long enough, perhaps she'll change her mind again!
