i have a macro that runs then compacts on close.. i want another program to run when the compact is done..any advice?

You could use the shell command to start the other app up. You may have to do it before the compact though, not too sure without trying it

do you think access will wait for the shelled app to start and end before copace starts?

the code keeps on running, hence it will start the app then compact
