Hello,
I'm looking to get some VBA code written that does the following events...
If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it and be willing to compensate you for your time.
Let me know what you think...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) – The application will launch form “frmSwitchboard_1”, which has an “On Open” event that goes to a table and looks up a value... (example = It gets a value of “4_2_2”)
(2) – The “On Open” event will then get the current file name and parse a value out of it... (example = it takes the “4_2_0” out of “system_4_2_0.ade”)
(3) – The “On Open” event will then check if the values match... If they do, then it opens form “frmSwitchboard_2”, closes form “frmSwitchboard_1” and is done...
(4) – If the “On Open” event see’s that the values do not match, it will open form “frmWait” which will give the user some kind of message that says to wait while the version is updated... Then it will take the file in network location “ABC” and copy it to the local hard drive location “XYZ”... Then it will go to a specific local hard drive directory and change the target behind a specific shortcut file... Finally, it will launch the file that it just copied to hard drive location “XYZ” and close itself...

Have you tried one of the "Auto Update Front-End" utilities available in the "Access Code Archive" Forum?
It beats trying to re-invent the wheel ...

I like this one:
New version of the free Auto FE Updater available Version: 2.0 (not 2000)
There are lots of great stuff in the
Access Code Archive
I would urge you to take some time to look through it.

The search words I used are Update and Front and I got 4-5 hits, IIRC ...
