Plaintext

This page is a stub. Please help us by expanding or merging it with applicable content

The term "plaintext" is most often used in the context of encryption. A plaintext version of a string is the unencrypted version of the string, as opposed to cyphertext, which is the encrypted version of the string.

In programming consideration, plaintext information should be as short-lived and narrowly scoped as possible, while the cyphertext version of the information is the version which is transported from point to point.
