Title

ACC2007 Access 2007 and Sub Menus

Discussion

This is a tutorial showing an easy way to create Sub menus in a new custom ribbon for Access 2007. The accompanying white paper discusses the matter in detail.

Scenario

Menus, and in particular, Sub Menus in 2007 are not as easy as in earlier versions of Access but once figured out, it’s just a matter of copy and paste.

Subject

The tutorial will help show you how to create the XML that allows for easy sub menus in an Access 2007 Custom Ribbon.

Applies to

Access 2007 Tested in - Access 2007 Skill level - Intermediate

Credits

Most of the material in this white paper is my own though there is a reference to a very good book titled RibbonX – Customizing the Office 2007 Ribbon. Authors are Robert Martin, Ken Puls, and Teresa Henning.

Overview

Unzip the document. Read the PDF white paper. Review the accompanying Ribbon XML file. View the form in the accompanying database showing the sub menu implementation.

Code

There are three files that make up the zipped file. Collectively they should give the reader a good understanding of what it takes to create custom Ribbons with Sub menus in Access 2007.

Enjoy,

Woody
