I have a query in which the actual profit on a transaction is compared with the quoted profit and the difference is then displayed in a calculated field.
If it is a negative figure Access adds a minus symbol and that's fine.
However, when it is a positive variance (greater profit than expected) it would be helpful to have a + symbol in front of the figure.
Is there any way of achieving that, please?
Many thanks

Hi: Since users should not be looking directly at query results, why not format the value in the control on a form or report. You can use ...

+$#;-$#;$#

(or +#;-#;# without the currency sign)

... as the format.

(Or you could, of course, use this format in the query if you really wanted to... right click on the field, Properties, Format ...)

Although I did have to swap the mighty dollar symbol for the puny pound character - initially I had thought it was a variable so had left it there.
There's only one user who runs this query and I'm happy to trust him and won't have to build a form.
Thanks again
