UtterAccess Forums _ UtterAccess.com News _ GDPR And Database Development Whitepaper

The world evolves and both the utility of data and the desire for consumers to know what's happening with that data continues to evolve along with it. It may be prudent for us as developers and users of Access and other data-focused services and platforms to be aware of what's what.

Last year Philipp Stiefel, Bernd Jungbluth and Karl Donaubauer wrote a whitepaper called GDPR for database developers. An English translation is now available here: http://www.donkarl.com/gdpr

It's a 30 page PDF about the essentials and the practical implementation of the European privacy regulations. There are special chapters about Access and SQL Server.

GDPR applies to database developers in the EU, EFTA, UK and potentially beyond if you process personal data from these regions.

We think if nothing else, it might worth downloading a copy and breezing through it over a cup of coffee or tea.

Thanks for providing the GDPR white paper. Also worth noting is the https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180AB375 which went into effect on January 1, 2020. Several other U.S. States will soon enact similar Laws.
