Scenario: Menus, and in particular, Sub Menus in 2007 are not as easy as in earlier versions of Access but once figured out, it’s just a matter of copy and paste. Subject: The tutorial will help show you how to create the XML that allows for easy sub menus in an Access 2007 Custom Ribbon. Applies to: Access 2007 Tested in: Access 2007 Skill level: Intermediate Author: Woody Splawn Date: 2/16/09 Credits: Most of the material in this white paper is my own though there is a reference to a very good book titled RibbonX – Customizing the Office 2007 Ribbon. Authors are Robert Martin, Ken Puls, and Teresa Henning. Keywords: Access 2007, Ribbons, Custom Ribbons, Menus, Sub Menus Overview: Unzip the document. Read the PDF white paper. Review the accompanying Ribbon XML file. View the form in the accompanying database showing the sub menu implementation. Discussion: This is a tutorial showing an easy way to create Sub menus in a new custom ribbon for Access 2007. The accompanying white paper discusses the matter in detail. Code: There are three files that make up the zipped file. Collectively they should give the reader a good understanding of what it takes to create custom Ribbons with Sub menus in Access 2007.
